Aims

Learners will be introduced to all aspects of the ‘health’ and ‘well-being’ of young people and the knowledge of how to promote ‘well-being’ in their organisation.

Outcomes

At the end of the session the learner will be able to:

  •  Define the terms ‘health’ and ‘well-being’ and outline their facets
  •  Explain ways in which ‘health’ and ‘well-being’ can be promoted within their organisation
  •  Identify ‘Six Priorities’ that need to be addressed when promoting ‘health’ and ‘well-being’ in young people

  •  Define the terms ‘health’ and ‘well-being’
  •  Discuss ‘Six Priorities’ of health and well-being in young people
    •  Conditions that promote learning and development
    •  Identifying what is important to each individual
    •  Positive relationships with family and friends
    •  Developing positive activities that will enable the child to thrive
    •  The importance of a safe and suitable home and community environment
    •  Promoting self-esteem and positive personal identity
  •  Identify the different aspects of ‘health’ and ‘well-being’

    •  Social attitudes and experiences
  •  Factors affecting a young persons ‘health’ and ‘well-being’
    •  Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
  •  How we can promote ‘health’ and ‘well-being’
    •  Increasing self-esteem
    •  Building resilience
    •  Promoting a healthy lifestyle
    •  Knowing how to respond to abuse and inappropriate behaviour
