Learners will gain awareness of the main types of epileptic seizures, gain knowledge about rescue medication and the principles of administration.

Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Recognise who may be at risk and how the condition may affect them
  • Explain how to deal with a person who presents with an epileptic seizure
  • Describe various ‘triggers’
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the medication prescribed for the condition and correct procedure for the administration of Buccal Midazolam
  • Gain an awareness of the condition epilepsy
